so...after a week of laying on her backside, "resting her ankle", mummy got to venture out to church on sunday. she was so excited about going out she could barely contain herself. mummy had hidden her one pair of plain flat black shoes a few months ago because she had been wearing them too much & didn't want to "kill them". fast forward to sunday and she had completely forgotten they even existed. thankfully she found them and celebrated like it was   snowing in zimbabwe at Christmas!

all i really wanted at the end of church was to drink this yummy orange juice!

mummy can now be found surfing the net looking for flat & kitten heel shoes. daddy says this has been the most profitable fall he has come across. so far mummy has been showered with calls from far and wide and even got lots of food from one of my aunty's who drove 2 hours to deliver it. i think daddy wishes he had been the one to trip and fall. well, i can arrange that.

mummy is beside herself - zara have only gone and opened up a maternity section on their site! she is beyond ecstatic! it does appear that they have simply picked items from their main range which work for maternity. the jeans are definitely elasticated for maternity use and mummy will be giving them a go! the selection is certainly very small but here are mummy's favourite items from the collection:

A lovely relaxed dress for the hot summer months

the buckle braces at the front make it perfect if you decide to breastfeed after baby is born!

mummy has now been pregnant for 30 weeks! yay! she is very excited but also says she's a bit nervous because there's just 10 weeks before the baby comes. cue her list of things to do! daddy says mummy is always finding something to do. this doesnt stop mummy. she's very excited because DIY is one of her favourite things. obviously as she's pregnant she wont be able to do much (e.g painting) but she's already booked daddy for the next 2 bank holidays - poor daddy. she's excited about sewing though! we'll be sharing all the little projects with you over the next week.

in the meantime - mummy took me to an activity centre yesterday with my friend jadon. she mostly sat and watched me play. we had lots of fun. jadon is always trying to cuddle me but as soon as he starts coming towards me i tell him: "no jadon...cuddles!!". mummy says when i'm 13 i'll probably have a crush on him and she'll remind me of this time when i wouldn't let him give me cuddles & kisses.

well, she's the one who said "treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen". just being obedient mummy!

do you remember when you were younger and your mum told you to always make sure you wear clean underwear / matching socks / matching underwear incase you were hit by a bus and had to be rushed to hospital? do you remember thinking "i think i'll be thinking of more important things than my socks or underwear should i find myself in that predicament? well, mummy found herself in just that predicament on sunday. ok, so she wasn't hit by a bus. nor was she wearing dirty socks / underwear but observers may have been forgiven for allowing their minds to wonder if she might.

it was an otherwise happy sunday afternoon as we strolled back to the car after watching my uncle act in a play, and had an unsuccessful trip to hunt for some nigerian food. mummy was unfortunately wearing some rather high heels having forgotten her flat shoes at home. she always carries them in her bag but this time, she didn't. another thing that happened that very busy morning was that she noticed her toe nails were badly chipped and couldn't locate the nail polish that she'd used initially. the heels she was going to wear were open toe so she decided to do that trick so popular with time-starved girls the world over: just paint the 2 toes that will be seen! She had to paint over the existing turquoise nail polish with a peach coloured nail polish (this is what she had on her finger nails). It didn't quite cover the turquoise but was manageable. Her outfit was otherwise on point and she was feeling like the hottest mama on the block!

back to our stroll to the car and mummy, daddy & aunty were discussing other nigerian restaurant choices when mummy pulled her phone out of her bag to google one. next thing we knew mummy was on the ground clutching her foot in agony. she had tripped over the kerb. she whipped off her heel and was rubbing her foot when she caught sight of her toenails. "oh damn!" she thought. as she was still trying to think of how to cover these nails, a little crowd began to gather. "oh no! it's that pregnant woman that was watching the play!". ice was brought over and people still hung around. mummy was just thinking about her nails and feeling very embarrassed. 2 orange/turquoise nails and 3 badly chipped nails. oh and dry feet. it was NOT her day. as it was london marathon day, police presence was high. a police van pulled up. nice. they called for an ambulance. then more cast members from the play came over. awesome. it was getting better by the minute. mummy wanted the ground to swallow her up. the ambulance couldn't come so daddy was asked to get the car and drive her to the hospital. before he left mummy asked him for his socks. i've never seen her so happy to put on a pair of daddy's sweaty socks.

moral of the story: you will think about it so listen to your mummy! (hmm...did mummy do this on purpose to get me to listen to her?ha! we'll see about that!)

 p.s i should've mentioned that mummy and the baby are both fine - mummy protected her tummy and landed on her side. everything is 100% ok & baby has been active as ever! mummy now has an excuse for buying lots of flat shoes!

well, with all the trauma my mummy is facing due to the continued expansion of her posterior (she assures me it's not another baby)...she felt she was due a bit of good news. she told me very cloud has a silver lining. I therefore expected her to  be grinning from ear to ear as she spotted a silver hair amongst her full black afro. Instead she screamed "nooooo!!! I'm only in my early 30's". I figured this wasn't the time to point out she is actually more mid than early. Oh well, there was only one thing for it.....only she can't shop in zara at the moment.

she decided to enter the daybreak competition to win an Audi sports car full of gadgets & handbags. maybe that'll be her silver lining - after all the car is silver :)!

I, on the other hand have been excited by the new zesty colours in store for spring. mummy bought me this cardi from ZARA a few weeks ago and ever since we can't get enough of the colour!
