at last, a new day has dawned! the sun is out for more than 5 minutes and it hasn't rained for 3 whole days! mummy is rejoicing! it looks like spring is finally here and so out came the bright orange shoes mummy has been reserving for an occasion such as this! spring is so pretty, with all the flowers everywhere which i love to pick and litter the house with. mummy's favourite spring thing is seeing all the cherry blossom trees in full bloom. They just look & smell divine.

mummy has finally decided after more than 20 years of living in this country that she hates winter. maybe it's because this was her first full winter as a stay at home mum. she really couldn't dress up at all. everything had to constantly be covered in coats. and it rained. every. single. day. maybe a slight exaggeration, but it rained a lot. she's already thinking up her AW15 wardrobe to enable her to navigate this situation with a smile on her face. either that or move to australia as our aunty (mama) carol keeps trying to convince her & daddy to do. the snakes though, the snakes. mama carol actually said to mum - "don't worry about snakes, thats no big deal in Aussie! every house has one lurking in their loft." i'm not sure that attempt at reassuring mum helped the situation.

in the meantime here in the uk mummy is embracing all that spring has to offer. yesterday we actually went out for that family walk mum & dad have been talking about since we moved in here 8 months ago. sigh. at least it happened! it was fun, we got to climb a mountain. mummy says it's a hill? it's a mountain! judah enjoyed riding my pink scooter as i cycled on my birthday bike which hasn't seen the light of day since...my birthday, roughly.

today we went to church which is mums major dress up day. she normally steers clear of jeans at the weekend as that is her schoolrun uniform. but today she made an exception as she had this fun new top she wanted to wear and it went perfectly with these jeans & her orange shoes. she got it from h&m after noticing how very masculine her wardrobe had begun to look. she's now actively seeking out ruffles & tops with some sort of lace detailing / crochet.

incidentally judah enjoys chomping on those shoes. i don't know if it's to do with the orange colour that reminds him of a juicy, zesty orange, or the suede point that caresses his rear gums so perfectly. either way, when it goes quiet in the house, we know we'll find him relaxing in a corner with one of those shoes in hand!

we loved photographing in front of this pretty green gate near my uncle Tamba's house, who incidentally found himself having to do the photography on this occasion! what a sport!

Meet our second offering for Mummy Crush Monday, the gorgeous Stella from the blog J'adore Fashion. Here she is with her husband, Olu, and their super cute son Nolan.

I first noticed Stella about 3 years ago as we were both expecting at the same time. I immediately got ~~ridiculously jealous~~ super inspired by her not-too-try-hard sense of style. As well as this, I noticed how comfortable she was in her own skin - something you'll soon see is the epitome of stylishness for me. Following her blog & looking through her pictures, you notice someone with a carefree spirit and a genuine warmth about them. I began stalking her ofcourse and found myself joining the masses to compliment her every look. And - shock horror - she would reply! She gets hundreds of comments - and she makes an effort to reply. She's the real deal. I was well and truly won over! Then one day she followed me back. I was like....huh? I had that Dori moment from Finding Nemo...."why are you following me?!" She's now got 80k+ followers, what does she want with me? Apparently, she's a person of the people! Yep, major girl crush! Read on to glean some of what makes this fashionista so fab, and if you don't already - follow her everywhere that she can be followed! And evolve from ~~envy~~ admiration to love - like I have!

How would you describe your style?

My style is feminine with an edge.

How have you found balancing your career, blogging and your home since becoming a mum?

It's means hard work everyday. I try to be really organized and plan things in advance. It's also great having a supportive husband.

Do you feel motherhood has had an impact on the way you dress?

I don't think it really impacted my style. My style has evolved over the years. I try to stay true to who I am. I am enjoying wearing flats on some occasions running after a 2 year old. :)

During pregnancy which brands worked well for you?

It was difficult finding chic pregnant styles that I liked; so I wore non maternity clothes. I would purchase items from my usual stores, but go up a size to accommodate the growing belly.

So, which are your go-to fashion brands & how do you tend to shop for your clothes?

JCrew, Ann Taylor, Zara, Banana Republic and online stores such as Asos, Shopbop and Revolve Clothing. I shop mainly online.

Nolan always looks so dapper - where do you mainly shop for him - and where do you get all his cute bow-ties?!

I scout anywhere from Ralph Lauren to Etsy for bow ties. I shop at Janie and Jack, Gap, Old Navy, Zara, Nordstrom for clothes and shoes.

Which item of clothing can you not do without?

That's tough! Do shoes count? LOL!

I think we can safely say, shoes count!!

And there you have it! Just to recap why I'm obsessed with this lady - dress sense: to die for, shoe game: on point, hair & make-up: on fleek, heart: made of gold , humility: intact & a family we can #goals on all day! I can't believe you are still here reading this...go follow the woman!

our mummy looooves a bargain!! more than that, she loves the buzz of beating someone else to it. so eBay was made for her. as she sits there waiting for the 20 second countdown to the end of the auction, her blood rushes as she imagines her rival on the other side already revelling in the item they think they've won. she then she swoops in like an eagle on it's prey and snatches that item, flying off into the sunset leaving them to lick their wounds.

the living room in our previous flat was pretty much ebay finds! the mirror, coffee table and leather chair were all bought in the manner described above....

mummy's prized posession is this demi-corbeille bed which she bought and re-upholstered. she is planning to re-upholster it again because, you know, a 4 year old and toddler aren't challenging her enough apparently!

She also bought that bookcase you can just see in the reflection in the image below.

The tiles for our recent bathroom renovations were another ebay steal! mummy became obsessed with the brand Fired Earth, and whilst searching for something else on ebay, decided to see whether anyone was selling some tiles. hey presto, some Londoner was getting rid of tiles worth in excess of £1000. starting bid was £150. mummy needed tiles in 2 days and with the auction being set at 6 days, she decided to just message the seller & ask how much they'd take if she could pick up that day & pay cash. £180 was the response. apparently the seller had decided to only do one of her bathrooms in this tile - not 3. mummy was ecstatic but worried they might be fake goods - but off we all went just incase. when we arrived at the house, mummy spotted the farrow & ball paint a mile off! the address alone was enough to guarantee all was in order. by the time the lady spoke with her royal-esque tone, mummy knew it was all good. those tiles were loaded with never before seen efficiency incase there was a change of heart. we drove away as the teenage daughter was handed the £180 as pocket money. judah & i took note.

On the clothing side, mummy has found many a "sold out" piece for rock bottom prices. Her favourite fashion finds are:

Brand new ALDO yellow pumps - RRP £50, bought for £5.

Brand new Philip Lim for Target jumper - bought from a US seller for $15.

Lanvin h&m dress - £40 (RRP £ 190)

Topshop Shoe Boots - £40 (RRP £90)

there have also been some epic eBay fails which have been swiftly sold on to others who have appreciated them better. like the wardrobe that actually smelt like we still lived in the 1800s. mummy didn't appreciate that and ran to ikea as quickly as her legs could carry her.

mummy's tips for shopping on ebay:

buy branded goods - it's the best way to guarantee that you will get something of decent quality
for furniture search for premium brands like John Lewis & Laura Ashley - people look after such products so you can find good quality at good prices
do not start bidding on a 6 day auction on the 1st day! for the love of God! click to watch the item & then reminders will pop up on the day. get in on the action when there is an hour left. mummy does not bid till the dying seconds - she keeps an eye on how many bidders there are & the price.
stick to your maximum bid and enter that when you are ready - basically, when there is no more time for the other person to increase their bid!
create a "followed search" for items you can't find. All of mummy's fashion finds took a while to come by. she kept coming back to check and soon enough, they were there!
use paypal to pay - this protects you should there be an issue with the product
a lot of brands have ebay stores now, selling out of season stock. so if you're heading out for some winter sun, it's a great place to pick up that French Connection maxi dress.
remember: it's only a bargain if you really wanted it - don't get carried away!

my mummy has a wishlist as long as her arm......stretched from here to zimbabwe via Dubai....and back again. i mean honestly - there's no end to the list of "must-haves" saved with reckless abandon on her numerous pinterest boards. the thing with mummy is she can get into anything. and i mean ANYTHING. just yesterday she was looking at lawn mowers with almost the same degree of excitement reserved for a zara coat whose price has come tumbling down to acceptable levels.

not only that, she has a knack for falling head over heels for items which always turn out to be top of the range. champagne taste, beer money? sounds about right to me.....but let's not build a campfire around that topic.

so what are mummy's current cravings? well here it goes....i'll start with one for me...

1. mummy has been wanting a pair of red mary jane's for me for a while now. she tends to buy me one key pair of shoes & then fillers for casual days as i'm at school fulltime now. she always gets my mary jane's from la coqueta as she loves the leather they use & the lightness of the shoes.

2. she is currently obsessed with ASOS WHITE. The peplum top teamed with culottes is a key look for Spring/Summer, and in this colourway she'll be able to pass them onto me in a few years time! win-win! the image on the asos website doesn't do them justice, so mummy picked this one of blogger Freddie Harrel showing how it's done!

3. another key trend she's obsessing over this spring/summer is mules, and she's been drooling over this pair of sandals since she saw one of her insta stalkees, Lisa Folawiyo, wearing them. she then saw Solange rocking them too and decided it was a sign from the Lord.

she came back into her zone of operation when she discovered they were £380 and started praying ZARA would come up with the goods. They came up with the red ones below...nice, but not quite mules...unless she cuts off the slingbacks...and then topples over forwards from lack of support. maybe not. she does love them though so don't be surprised if you see them showing up in an outfit post soon!

4. back to me, and mummy is loving the collaborations uniqlo are doing lately. i am crazy for miffy, especially as our amazing neighbour gifted me a miffy library collection with 16 books to cheer me up whilst mummy was in Zim. these tees are perfect for teaming with dungarees / shorts / tutus on a spring / summer day.

5. one for judah ofcourse! mummy is obsessed with little bowties for judah and came across this one from jcrew whilst surfing the web. she says it hits all the right notes for summer with it's pastel shades. let's see how long it takes judah to rip it off his neck....
