so, 3 weeks ago mummy woke up in a panic realising she was slowly subjecting my brother to the "2nd child" syndrome: no big naming ceremony, no birth announcement card, no extra special anything for his birth. she had sworn she wouldn't be "one of those mums"....but here she was...living the nightmare. so she contacted aunty maja to see whether they could do a newborn shoot whilst my baby brother still resembled a newborn!  arrangements were made for 3rd august.

mummy was obsessed with a picture aunty maja took of a real newborn in a basket looking like she'd just been dropped off by a stork. she needed the same picture. the pictures i'm sharing today i am calling "basket case" - loosely referring to my mum.  i mean really - if a stork delivered a newborn this huge that stork would be either a) dead, or b) suing God. anyway, thankfully for mummy aunty maja indulged her. here goes.....

baby judah iyanu is delivered to....well..my aunty obose's doorstep (that's where we stayed for 2 weeks as daddy was away in australia for "work" - aha. mummy said if he was going on holiday then so were we. so we went to tropical crowthorne for 2 weeks.)

i opened the door - oh hello there  little brother who i have NEVER seen before!

thank goodness you're here mum - i could break my back trying to lift this baby. how did the stork do it?! give him a medal! 

here i am reassuring my little bro that our mummy is reasonably sane...

my little brother was saying: "i think i got delivered to the wrong address!! help me aunty maja!"

if you can't beat them - join them! she doesn't look like the "letting go" type anyway!!

greetings from the world of chicken korma poops and sprinkler-effect wee wees! this is the case of something old, something new. mummy was already anticipating the chicken korma poop - she experienced that with my little big sis & had frequently wondered why stores bothered with white vests and sleepsuits....mustard coloured ones would save everyone a whole lot of bother!

the sprinkler wees are a whole new territory. she was warned but nothing prepared her for the reality. it may have something to do with my aim, speed and accuracy (or a-s-a). i hear these are qualities that are highly valued in life - i decided to carry them through to everything i do. to be fair - eat, wee, poop and sleep are my main occupations; and i must say all are executed with my now trademarked a-s-a principle.(hey, if blue ivy can be trademarked, i can very well trademark my gift). mummy has only now been recovering from my intensive feeding regime. i have made it known to her body that there's a new man in the house. she watched in shock as i ate and her belly disappeared. she went into panic when the health visitor proclaimed that i'd put on 1kg in 3 weeks. "what if i disappear?" she muttered, "not sure i can keep up!".

but keep up she has! somewhere between checking my mouth for the presence of fangs in the middle of every feed and dealing with the inevitable mustard nappies at the end of said feed, chasing little big sis away from me after once catching her poking my eye & shouting "wake up, baby judah!", and remembering to put food in her mouth - she lost and recovered her sanity! now, she's just trying to get some sleep. i've been doing my best to keep things light-hearted by impressing her with my ability to feed, burp and fart simultaneously without missing a beat. its my f-b-f principle. mummy did burst out laughing so i figured i'd impressed her. today i decided to try out a new one. she finished feeding me and was busy burping me. she couldn't resist leaning in for a little kiss and i decided to unleash my "burp & splurt in mummy's mouth" principle. that didn't go down so well. oh well, 2 out of 3 aint bad after just 28 days on the outside! back to the drawing board for me!

i'm on cloud coconut as my 'sekuru' (grandpa in shona) would say! i have a little brother and i just love him. from the moment i set eyes on him i was besotted. i wanted to carry him even though i was in daddy's arms. he's so cute and little and my favourite thing to do is to shower him with kisses. mummy says i need to get those kisses in quick because one day he'll be way taller than me and wont want kisses from me or mummy! mummy got in there quick and told him "i'll always be your first kiss! no girl will ever take that away from me!"

one of the reasons i love my little brother so much is that he brought a little ride-on car for me with him from mummy's tummy! how did he know thats just what i'd been wanting! ever since i discovered this song all by myself on youtube, i've been desperate for a car! now i know why mummy's tummy was so big!!  he is the best little brother ever! i told everyone at nursery about it the next day!

every morning when i wake up i rush into mummy's room to give him a cuddle & when i come in from nursery i do the same. mummy says i'm a great big sister. sometimes though, i do get frustrated with him - like when i was trying to show him daddy's dirty running shoes and he just kept his eyes shut. i thought it might be a good idea to tap him on the head with the shoe but it seems mummy's mind reading skills have been sharpened with the arrival of this new person and she swiftly marched me and daddy's shoes out of the room.

i know he's a bit cheeky and has already jumped on the blog to introduce himself to you all! i don't mind for now - but i tell you if i dont get the same number of comments or more for my articles then....well....there may be a problem or two ahead...

ok...i've been lying low. mummy has NOT been best pleased with me lately. it seems my habit of waking up at 1, 3 and 5 in the morning is not amusing to her. i just don't get it! i remember a year ago, she was the one poking me and pressing my chest checking if i was still alive....every 5 minutes! naturally i thought that was the natural order. we all go to bed, then every so often we wake up to check the other person is alive. they are the ones who have made the game harder by putting me in a cot in a separate room. if we were in the same bed, i could just poke her too. or open her eyes. or drool on her face. or bite her lip. or her cheek or nose. ok, i confess - thats what i was doing last week when she gave up and just let me sleep in her bed cos she was going bananas. unfortunately for me that proved to be my undoing. it seems these things that are endearing during daytime hours are not so amusing at night.

 **sigh** 

so much to learn....give me a chance mummy...i'm only 1...

for now i reminisce about a time gone by. a time before mummy started work and wasn't too bothered whether i woke her up at 1 in the morning because we could sleep till 1 in the afternoon....

oh well. i guess i better go to bed and stay asleep. maybe that way i can work my way back to her comfy bed....and have one more bite of her cheek. look.... i'm teething, and no teething toy provides as much satisfaction as a yelping mummy!

time sure does fly when you are having fun!! mummy says she can't believe i am 1 already...she doesn't know where the time went! she says it's like yesterday when she was holding this tiny little screaming person thinking 'this is not how they look in the movies!'. to be fair mummy says everything about labour is nothing like the movies! it's less glowing mum with sweet smelling baby and more.......well, i stopped listening....

can we focus on the here and now please? 

right - so we had a party yesterday to celebrate & i had so much fun!  it was book-themed so all my aunties & uncles got me books they enjoyed when they were younger! i woke mummy up at 6 this morning so we could update my blog...she was not amused!

...i was on the beach in barbados! mummy and i had planned on updating you throughout our trip but alas, it never quite happened! for one mummy left the camera cable at home....

anyway - we went to barbados for my aunty funke's 40th birthday. there were 17 of us there and we had a fun time. i got to meet lots of my aunty's and uncles, and my granny was there too. i will share lots of pics with you once they have vetoed the ones that shouldn't go up - the vanity is in the bloodline! for now, here's mummy and I on the beach, enjoying the 28 degrees celsius heat!

after this we went for a spot of tennis, and mummy unleashed her inner 'Serena' much to the tennis balls' dismay. one by one she successfully launched each ball over the boundary fence, into an unsuspecting neighbour's back garden. lets just say she's sticking to fashion.

afterwards we went for a dip in the pool which was right outside our door! here i am giving mummy some tips on winning at tennis...

i soon gave up and carried on swimming..

then i watched myself eat a biscuit :)

hey peeps! well, what a busy week it was for mummy and i! our diary was packed and i was loving watching aunty's come and go! but...the highlight of my week came on tuesday morning. after weeks of bum shuffling, doing the worm on the floor, and crawling backwards - i finally cracked it!

 i crawled down the corridor in one triumphant go! from that point on i was unstoppable! i've been exploring every nook and cranny! i can even fit under mummy's bed! perfect hiding spot.  i have been going around the house pointing out bits in need of urgent DIY attention to daddy. and just when mummy thinks she can't sweep the house anymore, i point out that she missed a spot. this is great! the best thing is when mummy says 'come!' and i go off in the opposite direction - because i can! 

 i love this - and guess what? taking my picture has become a whole lot more interesting. she definitely can't plonk me on the coffee table anymore. neither can she expect me to just sit still! i have toooo much catching up to do!  did i mention the first thing i did after crawling into the living room was to stand at the coffee table? i'm practising cruising now - before you know it i'll be really mobile....hmmm...
